1. Choosing the Right Size
Containers are standard in width (8ft) but vary in length and height. Choosing the right size impacts both your storage capacity and your delivery site requirements.

2. Understanding Container Conditions
We categorize our inventory into two primary industry grades. Understanding these ensures you receive the unit that matches your project’s needs.
One-Trip (New) Containers
Condition: Manufactured overseas, loaded with cargo once for the trip to the U.S., and then sold.
Appearance: Clean, uniform color (usually beige or gray), and minimal to no cosmetic wear.
Longevity: Highest lifespan (25+ years) with minimal maintenance.
Wind & Water Tight (Used / WWT)
Condition: Previously used in international shipping for 10-15 years.
Quality Check: Every unit is inspected to ensure it is weather-sealed. The doors, floor, and roof are structurally sound.
Appearance: Will show cosmetic surface rust, dings, and original shipping labels. Ideal for secure, dry storage where aesthetics are secondary.
3. Essential Site Preparation
A successful delivery depends on the condition of your drop site. Global Containers Line utilizes specialized tilt-bed trucks that require specific clearances.
Surface: The ground must be firm and level. We recommend concrete, asphalt, or at least 6 inches of compacted gravel. Placing a container on soft mud can cause the truck to get stuck or the container doors to misalign over time.
Clearance Requirements:
For a 20ft Unit: You need 60 feet of straight-line clearance.
For a 40ft Unit: You need 100 feet of straight-line clearance.
Overhead: Ensure there are no low-hanging power lines or tree branches. Our trucks need 16 feet of vertical clearance as the bed tilts to slide the container off.
4. Delivery Logistics: What to Expect
Advance Notice: Our logistics team will call you 24 hours in advance to confirm your delivery window.
Door Orientation: You must specify if you want the container doors facing the cab (delivered last) or the rear (delivered first) of the truck.
Flat Rate: Our $300 flat-rate shipping covers standard nationwide delivery to accessible sites.
5. Permits and Regulations
Before purchasing, we strongly recommend checking with your local city or county zoning department. Some residential areas require a temporary placement permit, while others may have restrictions on container size or color.
